Trying to show all the people out there who think that all Muslim women who cover up are NOT oppressed; they are far from it.
I am an American born and raised, and no matter how much people preach about freedom and equality for all…I know I will never be accepted into societies’ view of the “modern women”. Why is that a “free women” has to expose her body to the world, but on the other-hand a women that opts to cover herself up is oppressed? It baffles me to think that in the 21st century women are still being criticized and harassed by society for what they do or don’t do, have or don’t have…Enough’s enough!! As a Muslim American I want to show the world that us Muslim girls have a beautiful mind and we are not afraid to use it! Islam is a beautiful religion and I want to show the world what Islam is really about and prove that all the stereotypes out there that media carelessly throws around, are nothing but false assumptions.
I am a Muslim…and I am not oppressed!
